For the last few years I have entered a team to run in the Birkett at Silverstone, which is a relay race for all types of race cars. The race, which takes its name from the original orchestrator, Holland Birkett, has been run every year since 1951 and is organised by the 750 Motor Club. There is a hugely different grid of cars, from historic through to current, and this is evened out by a handicap system. My team, ‘Birgate Again’, is made up of friends whom I have raced with for many years and we race in Caterhams, a development of the original Lotus 7.  We had previously come 2^nd and 3^rd in class before but this year we managed to win the class and come overall 2^nd out of the 65 teams involved!
